Q&A with Salma Marzouk – Product Manager

Salma lives in Mississauga, Ontario, and joined SciLeads in January in a newly created role of Product Manager. We recently asked her a few questions about joining SciLeads:

What did you do before joining SciLeads?

I was a student at the University of Waterloo, studying Science and Business. Through co-ops and internships, I’ve had wonderful opportunities to work in different industries, including tech, healthcare, big pharma, education, and humanitarian affairs.

How did you find the interview process at SciLeads?

I found the interview process to be fair and well-organized. I enjoyed meeting the recruiter and the senior leadership team throughout the process; each person gave me a great perspective on the role and their experience at SciLeads.

What is a typical day like as Product Manager?

Every day looks different, which is what I love about the role. As the first Product Manager at SciLeads, I’ve had the privilege of developing our roadmap, building our product team, and working closely with the CEO on product strategy. On a day-to-day basis, I analyze data, prioritize features, write requirements, meet with users, build partnerships, and work with cross-functional teams to ship features to users.

Have you used your personal development allowance or how do you plan to use it?

I haven’t used it yet, but I plan on using it on courses to continue learning about AI!

What do you enjoy most about working at SciLeads?

I love the culture here! Everyone is so welcoming and supportive. Although our work is 100% remote, we have opportunities to meet in person and to participate in fun activities, like the Fantasy Football tournament and the Blue Jays baseball game. I’m also looking forward to traveling to Northern Ireland this year to meet the whole company in person at my first SciLeads Summit!
