Q&A with Emily Hunter – Customer Success Manager

Emily lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She joined SciLeads as an Inside Sales Development Representative (SDR) in 2020 and within two years was promoted to European Sales Manager. Since her last interview, she has continued to develop within the company and most recently moved to our Customer Success team. We caught up with Emily again to hear more about her life at SciLeads and her career progression.

Explain your journey at SciLeads over the years.

I first joined SciLeads as part of the inside sales team back in July 2020. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to progress and “wear many hats”; transitioning from an SDR to partnerships manager to sales manager and now to my current role as a customer success manager.

How has the company changed since you started?

When I first started there were only 20 of us in the company and now there’s almost 100! It’s been great to watch the company grow so quickly while still maintaining our company culture and start-up feel. 

How has SciLeads supported your professional development?

SciLeads has been amazing in supporting my professional development. I’ve received full training at every step in my career and have had the opportunity to learn from and shadow more experienced colleagues, which has been incredibly valuable. On top of that, we’re all given a personal development allowance to invest in tools for further growth, and we’ve recently become members of Women in Business NI. I’ve already had the chance to attend some of their virtual courses and in-person networking events, which have been really beneficial. 

Can you share a memorable moment or achievement that made you especially proud to be part of SciLeads?

Recently, I’ve been announced as a finalist for Best Customer Service at the upcoming Women in Business awards. Being nominated by my colleagues has given me a real boost, knowing that they recognised my hard work. What makes it even more exciting is that our team has been nominated in other categories as well, which speaks to the incredible work we’re all doing together. It’s such a rewarding feeling to be part of such an impactful and supportive team.

What do you do as a Customer Success Manager and what do you enjoy the most about it?

As a Customer Success Manager, my role involves training and supporting our customers, ensuring they’re happy with the platform and the service we provide. A lot of my customers don’t have the luxury of large sales and marketing teams, so I help them by advising on their search criteria, campaign structure, and email templates, which boosts their overall success with the tool. What I enjoy most about the role is the opportunity to meet new people and build strong relationships with them. It’s really rewarding to see those relationships grow, and it’s always a bonus when I get to finally see them in person at tradeshows.
