What initially attracted you to SciLeads, and how did your experience compare to your expectations?
I was really impressed by the culture that SciLeads had built as a remote company and the opportunity to join at a period of growth was something that really excited me! Everyone I met throughout the recruitment process seemed very down to earth and I knew it would be a great bunch of people to work with. I also loved the fact that the company was founded by three friends in Belfast, where I was from and based in. I think being connected to the mission and story of a company is such an important part for a candidate to consider when choosing a role, as having a motivation embedded within you that is linked to where you are working is such a great way to work somewhere that you enjoy. My expectations were most definitely exceeded at SciLeads. I had the chance to work on such exciting projects and work with such a diverse and interesting bunch of people, it’s been a blast.
What has been the most rewarding part of leading the Talent Acquisition function?
The most rewarding part of my job has no doubt been watching 90+ new starts over the years join SciLeads and watching their journey unfold. It’s so amazing going to the meetups and seeing the team dynamics and knowing you played a part in that. I have also loved and been so grateful to work with such inspiring leaders at SciLeads. I have been so fortunate to work with such an approachable leadership team who have taught me so much that I will carry with me in my career!
What’s a favourite memory from your time at SciLeads?
Our love for karaoke! I have absolutely loved all of our meetups and SciLeads summits and how we really all are one big team. I also loved being able to work from Amsterdam for a Summer and knowing that this was not only supported but encouraged but the company is incredible.
What’s one piece of advice you’d share with someone considering a career at SciLeads?
If you want to work for a company that allows you to be innovative, gives you the flexibility to work when and where you are best productive, go for it. I have learnt so much from my time at SciLeads and no hard work has went unnoticed. Reach out to the SciLeaders in the team you are interested in joining to see what they love about their role too! We are a super friendly bunch.
As you prepare for your move to Australia, what’s next for you, and what are you most excited about?
I am super excited to experience living somewhere else and a different culture/way of life! I’ll miss the whole team at SciLeads a lot
